After the Lisbon European Council and the implementation of a common strategy within all member states, the Directorate General for International Affairs of the Ministry of Education has launched a series of initiatives aimed at developing and promoting the European dimension and its integration into comprehensive current practices in Italian schools.
The process known as Europa dell’istruzione (Europe for education) is meant to be a means through which integration of all territorial resources is achieved in order to strengthen in young people a sense of European identity and prepare them to take part, fully and responsibly, in the cultural, economic and social development of the community.
The progress so far significantly achieved has been driven forward by the cooperation with Regional School Authorities which, through territorial school development taskforce teams, networking and beacon schools, have established, in every region, a widespread system for passing on information on the accessibility of opportunities and resources offered by international cooperation, for the provision of supporting expertise, and for the dissemination of successful practice.
Specifically some schools have been identified amongst those best performing in the language sector which thereof establish the national themed network named “Più lingue, più Europa” (More languages, more Europe). The General Assembly is the administrative unit of the network formed by the legal representatives of each school or by their proxy delegates. The GA elects the leader school, designates the members of the Programming Committee and sets up one or more project groups.
